UV, Collagen and CollaTan, a brief summary of their benefits

You will probably not see the difference at first glance. They have the same shape, and they both fit in the same sunbed. However, there is a significant difference in the way these three lamps work and the effect they have. Let's take a look at how UV, Collagen and CollaTan lighting works!

How DOES UV light work?

Sunbed lamps are the most important part of your sunbed. The UV light ensures a natural tan, but also has a maximum lifespan. The average lifespan of a sunbed lamp is around 500 hours*.

The light from the tanning bed lamp has almost the same properties as the light we receive from the sun. Natural sunlight consists of infrared light (heat), visible light and ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light can be divided into UVA, UVB and UVC light. UV sunbed lamps only produce UVA and UVB light. UVA light causes pigments present in the skin to change colour spontaneously. In addition, UVB stimulates the new formation of pigment granules, which gradually rise to the surface. UVA colours new pigments and produces a deep, long-lasting tan. UVB also leads to a thickening of the epidermis. A nice side effect of using UV light, as with tanning under natural sunlight, is that the body stimulates the production of vitamin D.

Also, those who are already tanned by using a sunbed are less likely to burn during the summer because it offers us natural protection against the light.

*Final life span may vary from the average life span.

How does collagen light work?

Scientifically speaking, light is divided into bands. Collagen light is located around the frequency of 633 nanometres. Therefore, the light penetrates up to 5 millimetres deep into the skin. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. These lamps have a pink glow and feel pleasantly warm.

The advantage of collagen light is that they have a positive effect on the structure of the skin through the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen provides a young and full skin, while elastin ensures a flexible and resilient skin. In addition, a collagen treatment can reduce the formation of wrinkles. Collagen lights are mainly used in cosmetic treatments.

The disadvantage is that collagen lamps do not produce UV light, so you do NOT get a tan and your body does not produce vitamin D.

What is the difference between Uv light and Collagen light?
  • UV light is used for tanning the skin.

  • UV light is used for producing vitamin D.

  • Collagen light is used for the production of collagen and elastin.

  • Collagen light is used to provide young, flexible and resilient skin.

What is collatan?

Simple explanation: it is the best of both worlds. It is a new technology that combines UV and Collagen light. Within the UV spectrum, special attention is paid to UVB light, as it optimises the natural production of vitamin D. The red light also ensures good circulation in the skin, giving the skin a beautiful and natural tan

So by combining both lamps, one obtains a tan on the skin, and the production of vitamin D, collagen, and elastin in 1 lamp.
